Animal welfare rating
Livestock welfare and protection is an important consideration for many consumers. However, the proliferation of brands, labels, animal welfare standards and advertising slogans is making purchasing decisions increasingly difficult, and the need for information is strong. Swiss Animal Protection SAP has now developed an animal welfare rating system that provides a consistent and transparent assessment of animal protection practices.
The rating for a particular piece of meat is marked directly on the packaging that surrounds the product itself, which means that customers can quickly and easily find out how that animal lived and how it was kept. They can then make a well-informed decision whether or not to buy that product.
Independent
Swiss Animal Protection SAP’s Competence Centre for Livestock undertakes the animal welfare rating process (and the associated animal protection assessment) on an exclusive and independent basis. Neither the retail sector nor the producers exert any influence on the animal protection assessment of individual products.
